Ben is a deeply experienced strategic thinker, with an extensive knowledge of national security policy and strategy.
Prior to joining ThinkPlace, Ben had 20 years' experience in the public sector, for most of that time with the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, working in strategy, policy, regulation, intelligence, planning, risk management and field operations. Most recently he authored the foundational strategic material for the Department of Home Affairs.
Ben’s expertise lies particularly in the areas of strategy, foresighting and working on social and organisational impacts of global trends. He holds a PhD in archaeology and palaeoanthropology and has also worked as an archaeologist and as a military historian in Australia and overseas.
