Oumar Ba is passionate about agriculture and urban culture, he is fascinated by the way people perceive and portray the world from their authentic cultural origins. He studied African studies at the University of Dakar, with a focus on linguistics, literature, and postcolonial history. He also studied business and entrepreneurship at the YALI regional leadership centre in Dakar.
Oumar works at Thinkplace Senegal as a business designer. His work involves applying human-centred design methodologies to facilitate collaboration and action.
Previously, he worked as a community booster in the French NGO Makesense Africa. He was responsible for the active and collaborative training programme SDGs_LAB. The objective of this programme was to provide civil society organisations, activists and social entrepreneurs with an approach to thinking about human centred design and to strengthen collaboration so that they are better equipped and able to achieve the objectives of the SDGs within their business models.
Oumar is also active in the preservation of the environment in Senegal. He has facilitated several workshops as a volunteer for local environmental organisations in Senegal to co-create activities and tools for their communities. He is also the founder of an association called Permaculture Design, which aims to green Senegal's schools through permaculture and to provide practical training in permaculture design and leadership skills.
