Tori Laniakea

General Manager, Queensland
Australia

Tori is a social policy specialist who works at the intersection of data, design and strategy. She bridges the divide between research and practice, developing evidence-based solutions that are rooted in systems thinking and sustainability in order to advance positive social and environmental change. Her passion lies in rethinking and reforming how humans co-evolve as an integrated part of nature, set within a truly regenerative and circular economy. Tori specialises in both evaluating and designing inclusive social protection and ecological interventions, developing new lenses to view policy-relevant data and to foster greater visibility around gender, inclusion and the intersectional realities of diverse groups within systems. She has over 10 years of experience conducting clinical and evaluative studies and tapping into psychological, anthropological and economic research, enabling a nuanced understanding of how mental models are developed and how they shape and incentivise human behaviour within larger ecosystems. Her domains of expertise include welfare systems, environmental impact, transforming healthcare, and gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) issues. She holds a master’s degree in social policy from Crawford School of Public Policy and her honours in psychology (majoring in neuropsychology).
