Designing the education curriculum for Innovation Hubs in Autonomous Region of Bougainville

Designing the education curriculum for Innovation Hubs in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville to activate local business

We worked in partnership with the Ed Institute in a project for the UNDP to lead the development of an education curriculum targeting small business owners and entrepreneurs. A comprehensive research and design process first uncovered the lived realities and challenges of current and aspiring business owners in the region, which laid the foundation for a curriculum that didn’t just copy the ‘innovation play book’ from other contexts. Rather, we worked iteratively and collaboratively to design a curriculum grounded in the unique time and place that Bougainville sits in ahead of its independence. This project continues to progress today, with students from three education pipelines – aspiring entrepreneurs, valued employees, and visionary business owners – continue to take the course.
