With over 20 years of experience in large-scale public good innovation, Darren works to design strategic change that addresses organisations’ and societies’ most complex challenges. He believes that co-design and a multi-perspective approach are essential for creating systemic impact.
Darren is one of Australia’s most experienced public good strategists, transformation architects and co-design facilitators. He works at most senior levels on difficult and often sensitive topics in government and the private/community sectors, in areas such as health, social services, taxation, national security, environmental management, biosecurity, digital government and international aid.
He has pioneered powerful approaches for linking strategy and architecture to the experience of people, and advises executive groups, programme/project teams and governance boards on how to optimise their impact when taking on these types of at-scale initiatives. Whether facilitating a senior forum in Europe, an running a public service innovation lab in Australia, or conducting ethnographic research in a village in Uganda, Darren’s approach is grounded in the need to create positive, sustained public impact.
In addition to being a Global Partner, Darren serves as ThinkPlace’s Global Chief Digital Officer, building public service capacity and context for the digital transition we are navigating as a society. Darren is a passionate speaker on the topic of digital ethics and digital rights.
